GENERAL

What is the difference between a Bookkeeper and an Accountant?

A bookkeeper handles the daily accounting transactions in a business including writing checks, invoicing, bank and credit card reconciliation’s, payroll, filing Federal and State Payroll tax returns, and providing you with financial statements.

An Accountant takes this formal information to prepare and file your yearly tax returns. It is imperative that all businesses retain an accountant; we will work with them and record all transactions according to their specifications. This way, your year-end will take your accountant less time to file and save you money.

SERVICES

Will you file our taxes for us?

We file State and Federal Payroll Taxes and State Sales Tax only. Under some circumstances, we will work directly with your CPA to assist in all tax filings. If you do not have a qualified CPA, or need guidance on selecting one, we have a recommended list of qualified CPAs to handle your year-end taxes and tax planning needs.

What software do you use?

QuickBooks is what we use for the majority of our clients. However, we also use a variety of other software packages including MYOB, MAS-90/400, Great Plains, Microsoft Small Business Solutions, Peachtree, and many others. We are well versed in the Principles of Accounting and Manual Bookkeeping, so that we can adapt to the accounting software of our clients.

If an emergency arises, can you help me?

Absolutely, we have a team of accounting professionals on staff that can come to your office in an emergency or guide you in what needs to be done over the phone.

If I have a slow season, can I cut back on time?

Yes. We can always adjust to the time you need. We understand that business has its ups and downs and we are here to work with you. That said, we do try very hard to adhere to a schedule with as little deviation as possible. This helps to guarantee that your team is available when needed and that your financial records are accurate and readily available.

Will the bookkeeping work be done at our office?

You choose. The bookkeeper can work at your office (on-site services). However, if you lack space or need a reduced rate, we also supply bookkeeping services in our offices (remote services). We store your data on our secure servers and work with you to set up a bookkeeping process that fits your needs. Of course, most of our clients like the face-to-face interaction with one of our accounting professionals, so many clients use a hybrid of on-site and remote services. If you are considering this, we may suggest hosting your QuickBooks in the cloud.
